This session will focus on three areas of high complexity for organizations to meet OSFI’s B-15s 2025 requirements. We will cover GHG emissions, with a focus on Scope 3, climate risk and the modeling impacts, and designing/implementing a fit for purpose Target Operating Model.
Speakers:
Cathy Yuan, Partner, Accounting Advisory Services, KPMG in Canada
Cathy is a Partner in KPMG’s Accounting Advisory Services Practice, specializing in regulatory transformation in the insurance sector. She provides advisory and audit services to Canadian and multinational insurers, with an emphasis on ESG reporting, finance transformation and IFRS 17 implementation. Her areas of expertise include helping clients work through technical and complex accounting, financial reporting and disclosures, and system implementation.
Anthony Buonaiuto, Partner, Management Consulting - Finance Transformation KPMG in Canada
Anthony is a Partner in KPMG’s Financial Transformation Consulting Practice in Toronto and the National ESG Strategy and Transformation Leader. Anthony works with organizations to deliver large scale transformations, with a focus on the data & system impacts, program planning and future state target operating model design. He has been deeply involved in IFRS 17 planning, design, and implementation, and has been working with clients for the past 3 years to address the ESG regulatory reporting landscape.
Alison Rose, Partner, Life & Pensions Actuarial Practice, KPMG in Canada
Alison is a Partner in KPMG’s Life & Pensions Actuarial Practice, and focuses on accounting and regulatory change for life insurance companies and the impact on actuarial systems and processes. Her subject matter expertise has a foundation in her extensive experience leading AXIS™ actuarial model conversions and, more recently, IFRS 17 reporting system implementation. Additionally, she has over 10 years of experience acting as lead specialist/specialist partner for insurance company audits. She is a member of various Canadian insurance industry bodies as well as KPMG’s global working group on IFRS 17. Alison also works with insurance organizations to respond to recent and forthcoming regulatory changes related to climate risk and model risk management. Her experience includes working to establish model risk management and model governance frameworks, valuation processes and controls. She holds a certificate in Climate Risk and Sustainability from the UK Institute and Faculty of Actuaries and focuses on climate risk implications for life and health insurers and reinsurers.
